Dutch-Door Front Door Refinishing in San Luis Obispo
This dutch-door is made of Sapele, an African hardwood known for its red or purple color. Overtime the UV’S will turn the wood blonde. To refinish this type of wood it has to be stripped of any old finish and through the top layer of wood until the inner color came out. Once a finish sand was completed two coats of UV protection oil were applied as the door manufacturer recommended.

Another option for refinishing Douglas Fir doors is a spar urethane varnish. The downside to this finish is that it will peal and crack with exterior UV exposure in about 3-4 years if the finish is not supplimented with an additional cost every 1-2 years.

This Douglas Fir Door had a cracking and peeling spar urethane varnish finish. I sanded the old finish and reapplyed a spar urethane varnish with three coats. This finishing system will need to be supplemented with a light sanding and an additional cost every 1-2 years to maintain clarity and resist cracking.

This stucco home in Avila Beach had never been painted. The exterior stucco was first coated with a masonry primer followed by two coats of paint. The gutters and downspouts were painted as well.
